US Presidents 2007 $1 Thomas Jefferson Gold-plated Coin

Iconic USA Presidential portraits - finished in 24-carat gold!

An official issue of the US Mint’s Presidential dollars, commemorating the great leader who shaped the United States of America. Struck to impeccable quality, these highly sought after US legal tender coins are renowned for the powerful portraits of US Presidents.

Thomas Jefferson was a Founding Father, author of the Declaration of Independence and the third President of the United States. Born in 1743, he attended the College of William and Mary where he studied law. Throughout his political career, he was an eloquent correspondent who contributed his pen, not his voice, to help his country. A reluctant candidate in the 1796 election, he became vice-president under John Adams after losing to his opponent by three votes. At the next election, Jefferson was elected president. Notable achievements of his first term were the purchasing of the Louisiana territory from the French and his support of Lewis and Clark’s expedition to discover a route to the Pacific coast. His second term was plagued with difficulties, both on domestic and foreign fronts. In the midst of ongoing conflict between Britain and France, he strived to maintain neutrality. Retiring to his home, Monticello, Jefferson spent the reminder of his life spearheading the establishment of the University of Virginia.
